With the beginning of summer 2019 comes great massage therapy events in Washington State. Washington State is one of the top states in the USA for the massage community. Whether you want to get your license, or if you are looking to ease muscle pain, there is an event in a city near you.

Washington has approximately 38 approved massage schools and approximately 4830 employed massage therapists according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Furthermore, there are 100s of massage establishments to ease your aching muscles.

There are many massage therapy events include schooling, as well as, licensing, continuing education, free massages, and meetups daily in Washington.

If you desire to learn and attend massage events, there is something for everyone.

Functional Fascia: Legs and Pelvis Workshop Event June 27th

Kicking off the start of summer 2019 is a functional fascia workshop that helps to identify structural and movement limitations with the legs and pelvis. This workshop is being held from 7:00 – 9:00 PM by the Institute of Structural Medicine™ at their Mercer Island facility. In addition, attendees will develop a knowledge of restrictions in the fascial lines to identify root cause in movement dysfunction.

Furthermore, the workshop is for interested students, movement trainers and manual therapist.  Also invited, are personal trainers, athletic trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapist, structural integrators, yoga, and Pilates instructors.

The Shoulder Girdle: Support for Self-Expression CE Course Event June 29th– July 1st

This 3 day continuing education event is being held at the Fauntleroy School House in Seattle. Designed for Structural Integration practitioners, you will learn to gain body reading confidence, verbal cueing, and instructions in designing practical and transformational movement solutions.

In addition, the course focuses on understanding shoulder patterns and problems and using movement education to eliminated shoulder symptoms. Daily course hours are 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM and is held from June 29th – July 1st. You can register here by emailing Jeanne Vadnais.

Resistance and Release Work for Neck & Shoulder Event June 29th– 30th (Update: Sold Out)

Come learn from Deane Juhan the author of Job’s Body: A Handbook for Bodywork and Touched by the Goddess: the Physical, Psychological and Spiritual Powers of Bodywork. Deane has been a professional bodyworker for over 38 years and was a student of Dr. Milton Trager.

Mr. Juhan will be supervising this innovative class from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM for 2 days. This Trager resistance and release workshop is being held at Discoverypoint School of Massage at 420 E. Pike Street, Suite 3, Seattle, WA.

Ashiatsu Bar Basic Massage Training Class June 29th – June 30th

This CE 20 credit class is being held between 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM at 6026 #1 California Ave SW in Seattle. The Ashiatsu Bar Basic massage 2 day continuing education training workshop covers the one-footed moves of the Anterior and Posterior routine.

Even more , the workshop includes a digital manual and video.  Above all, organized by The Barefoot Masters®, it covers history, contraindication, benefits, care of feet, and hands-on techniques. Free Infant Massage Techniques Event July 1st

Body Enmotion Massage in Kirkland is offering a free infant massage hands-on skills class for the whole family. The 1 hour class being held from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, is open to all new and expecting parents. Likewise, you will learn infant massage techniques and benefits to help soothe and relax newborns.

Freshen-UP! Haven’t practiced massage for a while? 8CE’s July 1st

This 8 hour refresher course is Washington State Massage License approved hands-on training. Your basic techniques of massage, muscles, draping, and aches and pain treatments techniques will be refreshed and practiced.

Furthermore, this fun and exciting class will be held on July 1st from 8:00 AM -4:00 PM and organized by Touched by Angels Massage & Spa in Tumwater, WA. Moreover, this class meets Washington State’s 8 hours hands-on training requirement.

Fingertip to Elbow Treatment Techniques CE Course July 6th

This is an 8 hour continuing education class being held at the Therapeutic Training Center at 929 N. 130th St., Suite 12, Seattle. Participants will assess and treat the elbow, forearm, wrist, hands and digits. In addition, shoulder and upper arm structures will be addressed to optimize hand and forearm treatment results.

Furthermore, structure and function of the retinaculum, ligaments, tendons, bones and joints, and structural alignment of the elbow forearm and hand will be explored. Even more, treatment approaches for conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and post-surgical interventions will be discussed. Finally, the course is being taught by Dawn Schmidt and runs from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Saturday.

Novice Massage Class for the Beginner July 7th

Open to everyone is a Novice Class for the Beginner introduction to therapeutic Swedish massage. This full day course offered on July 7th from 9:00 AM – 4 PM and is hosted by Discoverypoint School of Massage.

Taught by experienced licensed massage therapists, you will learn the basics of providing back and neck work. Also, you will get an introduction to the career of massage therapy. The session will guide you through choosing appropriate massage supplies and proper use of tables and other equipment.

Even more, you will learn techniques for massage and proper mechanics for the “Big 3” Swedish massage strokes; effleurage, petrissage, and friction.

Lokahi Ohana Spa’s 2019 Luau Event July 13th

This waterfront event is being held on July 13th from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM in Edmonds, WA. The event is being hosted by Lokahi Ohana Spa, formerly Elemental Massage Therapy & Spa at 51 W. Dayton Street.

Massage Magic: Find your Passion CE Event

This 4 hour CE event meets from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Touched by Angels Massage & Spa Tumwater, WA, on July 14th. This hands-on class will teach client positioning and body mechanics to ease pain and give an amazing massage.

In addition, you will learn deep tissue and relaxing massage techniques to utilize your body for you and your client’s advantage. Above all, you will experience amazing neck, face, feet, hands, shoulder, and scalp work to get back your passion for giving massages.

Functional Fascia: Back Workshop July 17th

Part of the “Workshop Series”, this class is the interplay between fascia tensegrity, skeletal organization, and movement patterns. The event is hosted by the Institute of Structural Medicine™ at their Mercer Island location.

Hence, you will learn to assess movement patterns relating to the back and teach clients how to find better skeletal movement and organization. Finally, the course is being taught by Donna Bajelis and Joe Kelly on July 17th from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at a cost of $50.

Novice Massage Class for the Beginner Event August 4th

Discoverypoint School of Massage is conducting a full day introduction to therapeutic Swedish massage. This course is taught by their experienced faculty. Above all, you will learn the basics of massage, as well as, find out how to become a licensed massage therapist.

Designed for family and friends, this class is being held from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Discoverypoint’s beautiful facility in Capitol Hill. Most noteworthy, you will discover guidelines for choosing appropriate massage supplies, equipment and tables.

Cupping: A Self Care Tool for Massage Therapists Event August 12th

This 4 CE credit event is being held August 12th from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Massage Envy Shoreline. The class hosted by Jason Abbey, LMT, will introduce students to the history of cupping and suction therapy.

Also, in addition, hands-on training will be used to teach skills, techniques and equipment to perform an efficient session. Cupping is an effective self-care tool to prevent LMT injury and burnout. The class is $65 and is reserved here.

Herbal Migraine Relief and Self Massage Techniques in Everett Event August 29th

The event is being held at the Sno-Isle Co-op classroom at 2804 Grand Avenue, in Everett on August 29th at 7:00 PM. You will learn massage techniques and aromatherapy to naturally alleviate headaches.

In this workshop, you will learn different aromatherapy blends that help manage migraines. Most importantly, you will uncover techniques to stop headaches in their tracks and live a more peaceful life without pain medication.

AMTA-WA Educational Conference September 13-15th 2019

The Yakima Washington convention center is where the American Massage Therapy Association conference is being held. The sessions start at 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM daily. In addition, this Washington chapter educational conference is a chance for members to learn and network with other LMT’s.

Likewise, the event features classes for CE credits, exhibits marketplace, education sessions, keynote speakers, workshops, leadership training, receptions, and dinners.
