Diary Of A Massage Student
Happy Valentines Day!

It's our Quarter 2 final for MSA comprehensive, which meant knowing details of over 60 muscles. My brain is mush, but I have coffee, and I think I passed.

Have a glorious day!!

Navigating Instructional Roles:
Exploring How to Maintain Boundaries in the Learning Environment

DATE: Sat. Feb 17, 2018
COST: $75
CE: 7
REGISTER: https://discoverypointschoolofmassage.com/events/category/discoverypoint-classes/

DESCRIPTION:
As educators, we are challenged to assess and meet the unique learning needs of a diverse student population. This requires us to go beyond effectively delivering new information or coaching skill development. It requires an understanding and skill set that allows us to protect the integrity of the broader learning experience. In this 9 am to 5 pm class for teachers, we’ll introduce Shelly Loewen’s Playground Model of Learning™ as a framework for values based teaching. We will also explore four primary instructional roles and their impact on the boundaries required to maintain both a safe and productive learning environment for students as they progress through the different phases of their education.

Your Instructor: Lisa Nelson joined the faculty at the Brenneke School of Massage in 1991, and co-founded Discoverypoint School of Massage in 2010, where she serves as Director of Education & Instructor. Her passion has always been the education of both students and teachers. She has designed and implemented multiple faculty training and development programs for a variety of vocational education communities, and served as a teacher, curriculum consultant, administrator, and learning strategist. She is known as a good listener, creative strategist, and passionate team member, as well as a patient and flexible educator. Lisa has been privileged to speak at numerous teaching conferences within the US, written several articles for vocational educators, and contributed to textbooks in sports medicine, sports massage, and muscle anatomy. Together with Pat Archer, Lisa co-wrote the textbook "Applied Anatomy & Physiology for Manual Therapists" in 2013, published by Wolters Kluwer – LWW.
