In 1998, Michael began his career as a massage and movement educator. While he has facilitated a broad spectrum of classes, his current teaching focus is in musculoskeletal anatomy, kinesiology, clinical and outcome based massage, professional ethics and communication. His passion for helping students discover the human body and how it moves makes him a demanding musculoskeletal anatomy instructor. However, Michael’s ability to temper high standards with his sharp wit, a keen appreciation for fun, and commitment to creativity make him a student favorite.

As “Pride Month” draws to an end, we want to remind our community and students what we stand for and what is innately our core. We view it as a privilege to operate our school in Cap Hill. We view it as an honor to educate such a diverse student body. We view it all as beautiful and we are proud. 🌈

Our seasoned and passionate faculty help to nurture and refine students’ clinical skills including communication, assessment, treatment, client education, and documentation. A student / teacher ratio of 14 to 1 in all hands-on classes ensures students receive quality feedback on a regular basis. For example, an average class size of 24 students will have 2 instructors, and a maximum class of 32 will have 3 instructors.

We are proud to be located in Cap Hill. Our voice stands with the culture this diverse and beautiful neighborhood represents. We know how difficult these times are, but real change rarely comes without hardship. We continue to stand with our community and black lives.
・・・
Until yesterday, every night in our neighborhood looked like this. Lines of militarized police units gathered to stand off with protestors outside the East Precinct with a helicopter flying overhead. Yesterday, the police presence disappeared, leaving what has come to be known as the #capitolhillautonomouszone.

The status quo of sending police to solve every problem in the city is not working. The chilling sights of police in riot gear and military troops repeatedly using excessive force in our community perpetuates more violence and reinforces the call to defund the police.

We whole-heartedly believe changes are needed and we understand that such radical shifts require thoughtful discussion. To include your voice please send your thoughts to Seattle's City Council. They are meeting at 2PM today to discuss the city budget. You better believe these topics are on the table.

Some ideas that we've heard and liked include: a mental health and wellness department, peer mentoring department, food security teams, de-escalation team, remote medical technicians, crime reduction teams, public service workers, and public arts department.

Follow the link in our bio for a live stream of today’s City Counsel meeting. You can also check our stories today to see artist’s renderings of creative alternatives to policing as well as a links to send your own ideas to the City Counsel.
